  Creative Critical Reflection 1.       How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?      My product was based around the pop genre. In this genre of music, it is more upbeat, full of dancing, and bold clothing. Most pop songs relate to relationships and what teen’s are into. My product revolves around relationships, and looking for them. The beat is joyful, and the accessories are bold. The setting of most pop songs are near the beach, at a carnival or a public setting where multiple people are seen in the background and make appearances through the video. My product does the opposite, and switches back and forth from one girl to another. This represents the teen group and what there likes and dislikes are, and goes out of the way to connect to the teen group.     2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?...

This is the first Music Video I have tried to create. The song I chose is Boyfriend by Big Time Rush, which is a boy band. The people in the video is me and my roommate. I directed the first part, and she directed the second part. I created the flashing and colored lights by taping led lights to the walls. The hallway that I planned on doing the scenes were full of bad lighting so I had to improvise. I used the editing software Openshot for the fading transitions and slow effect in the video. Overall, I feel that I did a decent job on the transition and editing portion, as well as ending the video at exactly 1:00 minute. 

      Following the first day of editing, some of the video had to be separate so I could embed them into the computer. Therefore, I had to match them to their correct placements. In order to do this, I had to re-watch each video to make sure it fit. The next step was to put the music in the background of the video, and match the lyrics to the words. I had to alter the music to not overpower the video, by altering the volume to make it not so loud. Now that the video and the music is set, I used different effects to make the video look more realistic. For example, I added a foggy effect to make the club scene look more realistic and fun. Lastly, after matching the clips and editing the music, I embedded the flashback videos where I left room for. The videos fade in and out throughout the music video, to emphasize the emotional tone. 

      During the music video, I had to cut the video into different parts in order to import it into my computer. When I started editing, I first had to match up everything with their correct scenes. I used OpenShot to edit and review my videos. The next step was to cut out any parts that were not included in any of the scenes. In some parts of the video, you can see unwanted people in the background, where I had to snip out. There were also ending scenes of me and the recorder talking about what's next that I had to cut out as well. Since my computer is old, it was hard to edit this, so it took an overall 2 days to edit the whole music video. The first day was spent cutting and editing out scenes that weren't suppose to be in the video, and shortening the length of the video to reach 1 minute.            The first part of the filming process was having to create a dark nightclub scene. I had to dim my lights and use my TV to create flashing colors. I then put the music of the song I chose in the background to match the lip singing in the video. Since I did not have enough people to create a big club scene or extra people in the back, I have altered the set up of the music video to only show me for the most of the song, with extra videos embedded into it to make it look like I am thinking of past times. My friend helped film the music video, while my brother helped with the lights and making sure no extra people showed up in the background. After setting up the scene, my friend filmed the video horizontally, creating a steady movement back and forth, and titling the camera when needed.   First Scene: The camera will fade into me in a dark room with colorful lights and loud music. I will be dressed in bright colors and makeup, surrounded by a party scene while the music begins to play. I will be in a hallway, by myself, to show I am the main singer. Second Scene: The camera will shift to a different scene where more people are included while the song plays in the background. The actors will be dressed formally, sitting on a couch or in a crowded hallway. It will show the actors laughing and flirting with each other. Third Scene: The next scene is a close up of me in the colorful hallway, singing the song, while it fades to things happening at the same time. I will be dressed the same way, and makeup will be the same.         The name of the song I have chose is "Boyfriend-Big Time Rush". In the music video, the artist's are shown at a club scene, where the main singer is singing to the camera in front of a wall. Props to recreate this is going to be a flashlight, my TV and a sheer blanket. The flashlight is going to be uses to create a strobe light, while my TV will be used to show another color other than white, to make it look like I am in a club. The sheer blanket will be used as a background, where it shows shadows dancing behind it while the music is playing. In the music video, the costumes shown are leather jackets with a regular shirt under, a tuxedo, and regular shoes or dress shoes. In the music video I am going to create, I will have a leather jacket with a regular shirt underneath, black jeans and regular shoes, since I am creating only a snippet of the video.
