Break Time

Image
Although I left off with stating that I have errors that are being fixed in my film, I decided to take a break. When staring at something for too long, you tend to think the tiniest aspects of it are wrong. This break is to cleanse my mind of all the stress I gained from trying to perfect my film. What I wanted to get out of this break was to have a new look at my film to see if something is actually wrong with it or I was just looking at it too much. During this break, I went out of town to the beach. I felt a connection to the film I made, because it talks about what other people think about you, insecurities, etc. While out of town, I felt insecure of how I looked. When I thought back to the film, I remembered that it shouldn't matter how other people view me as long as I am happy with myself. Some people spend too much time worrying about how other people think of them that they can't enjoy themself anymore. Thi...

Fixing the Errors

Image
Although I have managed to be finished with the majority of the final task, I am worried that I am rushing it. Therefore, I am going step by  step throughout the processes again so that I can be certain it is good. The first person I asked to review my final task said that there were many errors. I went through these errors as I explained in the previous blog. Still, some of the scenes were giving me problems in the aspects of the film looking too awkward or having too much dialogue. In the planning process, I was worried that the film will have too little dialogue, but I think I overdid it. I am going to try to see where I can cut some of the dialogue out, while still keeping the clear message being shared. The music and dialogue does not go well together, so I would also have to find where I am going to stop the music and play the dialogue without it being too noticeable. Some of the dialogue may be...

Peer-Reviews and final touches

Image
After I made sure all of the titles faded in and out on the right times, I was finished with the majority of the final task. All I had to do left was send the opening sequence to a couple of other people for them to review it. The first person I sent it to took a really long time to review it. When she did end up looking at it, she said that it was just okay. There was no real in depth criticism given to me. I decided to ask the same person to re-review it with more detailed feedback. After a day of the person reviewing the film, they gave me a couple of notes. The first note that was given was that the music in the background did not fit the mood of the opening sequence. She told me that I should use more of a soft music that gives off a melancholy mood. Another piece of feedback was that the music was overbearing and you could not hear the dialo...

Editing and Taking Breaks

Image
I have almost come to the end of the final task. So far, I have shot all of the scenes needed, and started editing some of the clips together. While reviewing the scenes, I noticed that the lighting was off in some parts. I had to have someone in my family help me record these scenes again. For example, The beginning scene was too dark because of how early it was, so we had to pretend it was early in the morning for the scene. I have a light dimmer, so I adjusted the lighting to create a brighter look. I also had to re-shoot the kitchen scenes because there was too much background noise that could not be canceled out. After re-shooting these, I imported them into my editing software. The first thing I did for editing is putting all of the videos in order. Then, I cut some of the video out of each one to create a smooth transition. Some of the editing was turned int...

Filming and Costumes for Final Task

Image
I went to the beach Sunday, and filmed the beach scenes that were left. I also filmed the car scenes on the way to the beach. There was a lot of loud noise in the car, so I might have to adjust the audio once I start editing this part. As we filmed the beach scenes, there were a lot of people talking in the background and walking in the shot, so we had to retake it multiple times to get the perfect shot. Since we were at the beach, we were wearing bathing suits and beach clothes, but I had to put on a less revealing bathing suit to keep the filming appropriate. While in the car, it was hard to get a good shot of both of us, so we had to film each other one at a time. I may have to put this scene as a VoiceOver for someone's part so the editing does not look so obvious. After filming the first half of the film, I have decided to start piecing some of...

Filming and Editing for Final Task

Image
I recently started filming the beginning scenes of the film because I was having trouble with the camera man. I had to wait until the morning to film the first scene because it required the sunrise as well as the time of day. I then had to get the right angle in order to film the scenes with me in front of the mirror because the camera was visible. I could not film the beach scenes yet because there has been a lot of people than usual at the beach. Therefore, for everyone's safety, we have decided to postpone this scene until a quieter day. As for the editing process, I am questioning if my music choice fits the theme or mood of my film, or if it will make it awkward. I will start half of my editing process once half of the film is completed. This will make it easier for when the other half is completed so that I know how I will edit it. I plan to film the beach days this weekend of 3/6/21 and 3/7/21 before the Spring Break rush s...
