Title Research: Little Women
I watched the opening sequence of "Little Women" on the art of the title website, showing a black and white beginning with a bold, blocky font. The beginning of the sequence mentions the producer, director, cast and crew as well as the title of the film. A description of who the person being mentioned is lays on top in an italic font, while the person is in a bold, capitalized lettering. All of the titles are in black and white, creating the serious and professional tone. Images prioritized in the opening sequence include a snowy background with a neighborhood and a big mountain. Another image shows a man putting a wreath on his front door, which you can infer means it is Christmas time. The next image shows an old building with a carriage riding across the snowy ground. The next image shows kids running with a Christmas tree attached to a sled. These images carry a positive and happy connotation regarding the time of the year, as well as the scenery. The image of the kids share how fun it is for them, as the music in the background is more in touch with the holiday spirit. The film establishes a feeling of the genre from the outset by the music picked, and the choice of scenery. The way the camera moves shows a slow pace, professional film. Strategies used to appeal to the target audience is the way the music carries each scene, and the scenery, which appeals to an older audience. Technology is used in this film by doing a fade in and out of the scenes as well as the titles. A pan was used to show more of what the movie entails. The film shows an establishing shot of where the movie also takes place, and some of the characters involved.
