Genre Research: A Star is Born
"A Star is Born" is a drama film that follows two country singers. The male singer struggles with alcohol addiction and tinnitus. He meets the young lady, and begins to instantly fall in love and marry her. As he helps her start her singing career, he becomes overwhelmed with the attention put on her. This allows him to fall in a deeper addiction, which ends up with him going to rehab. After rehab, his wife puts her career on hold which the man carries a burden for. While at one of her concerts, the man ends up taking his life and is found when she comes back. This movie has multiple elements that the drama genre contains. The overall topic of this movie is addiction, which is a recurring serious topic that drama movies have. The mood within this film shares a vary of romantic, happy and sad moments. The movie's camera movements is steadicam, which is most of drama films. The lighting within this movie has three-point lighting, as well as low-key lighting, which drama films have. The elements of the genre this movie has that I like is the dramatic acting. This movie does a perfect job in getting you emotionally invested into the movie, where you feel the paint the characters feel. Another element this movie has that I like is the sound track. Most genres create a unique soundtrack for the movies. This movie shares catchy songs that relate to what is happening. Elements of drama this movie had that did not appeal to me was the dialogue. Some of the dialogue was too long where I lost interest throughout parts of the film.
